“This past fall, Bastrop Texas was hit hard by one of the most destructive wildfires in Texas history. This wildfire destroyed over 1,500 homes, one in particular being the Whitfill’s home. We cannot tell you how blessed and honored we were to meet and connect with the Whitfill family. Cody and Melinda and their two children Oliva and Creed evacuated their home along with hundred’s of other families, only to come back to it burned completely to the ground by this devastating wildfire. We heard of their story, contacted them, and were able to set up a time to do begin our next fotolanthropy project with them. We traveled to Bastrop Texas just a week or two after the fires had subsided and began our session. Though they had just lost their entire home, the Whitfill’s had such warmth to extend to us and were so positive through the whole day. Their strength as a family was very evident and they pointed to the Lord as the source of their strength through this time. It was amazing to hear their words and attitude as they faced this huge trial before them. We were all inspired by their story as they showed us how they were making it through this tough time and keeping such a positive attitude and encouraging one another along the way. We are also glad we could provide them with tangible photos of their family for their new home and life to come. We hope you are just as encouraged as we were from the Whitfill family and can see their story as truly an inspiration to you as well.” – Written by Fotocrew Chief Katie Norris
