A new Behind the Scenes Series for 7 Yards by Fotolanthropy will now be hosted on the 7 Yards Blog and you are invited to follow along! The journey of producing a feature documentary and sharing it with the world is one of the most thrilling and dedicated adventures. When I look back on our past documentaries Travis: A Soldier’s Story and The Luckiest Man I am amazed to see what took place from start to finish. I promised our team that next round, we would shoot more behind the scenes to share the authentic journey. So here we are, producing 7 Yards and I am keeping my promise.
We have invited cinematographer Ryan Wermich to capture the story behind the making of 7 Yards. This series that we will host on our blog will give you an inside look into what it takes to produce a feature documentary. You’ll have full access to the good, bad, comical and sleep deprived interviews of the cast and crew, behind the scenes filming, gear talk, interviews, marketing, business strategy, and we promise laughs and authenticity.
As a nonprofit organization, we rely on our generous donors to support our Fotolanthropy films. We make the best use of every dollar, which often ends up in hilarious travel stories and award-winning skills of maximizing time. Our film team lives on coffee, energy drinks and our cinematographer, David White, only drinks hot chocolate. We have a friend named Wade, who drives us on our film trips in a 20-year-old van. We hustle and do our work with joy, because we have the best job, to share stories of hope with the world.
We may be small, but we have witnessed the impact of what dedication combined with a great story of hope can do. One of our past feature films, Travis: A Soldier’s Story, has been viewed by millions, received standing ovations to full stadiums of over 60,000 fans, shared across the country and screened at our US Capitol to the nation’s leaders. The film is now available on iTunes, Netflix and Amazon. SSG Travis Mills now has a speaking career and NYT best selling book. It was an incredible journey that was immeasurably more than we could have imagined.
So here we go, let the adventure of producing 7 yards begin. Enjoy this trailer for this series and we hope you will join us for this journey.
7 Yards Synopsis: A documentary that will inspire you to overcome. After a life-altering tackle on the college football field, Chris Norton was told he would never walk again. Through grit and discipline, he retrained his body and spirit, and is currently preparing to walk the most important yardage of his life: seven yards down the aisle with his bride.
