In February, Northwest Bible Church approached Fotolanthropy to document the story of the Shaw family, who lost their five-year-old son Griffin in a drowning accident last summer. We knew this would be different than most of our other Fotolanthropy stories and felt a heavy responsibility to tell this story well. Although Griffin had special needs and his life was short, it was clear that both Griffin and the entire Shaw family had a powerful story to share about hope, joy and love.
Bryan and Joli welcomed Griffin in 2010. Following his birth, the Shaws quickly realized that Griffin was not meeting the normal milestones of a growing child. Although doctors were unable to give him a specific diagnosis, Griffin was not expected to ever walk or talk. Yet Griffin worked hard to defy odds, all while displaying God’s unending joy and love to those around him. In July of 2016, the Shaw family’s life changed forever, and a Dallas community came together to shine their light for this family.
Are you in Dallas? We’d love for you to join us this Sunday, March 26th, at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas for the official community premiere of Fotolanthropy’s newest short film Shine: The Griffin Shaw Story.
The film will be shown at both the 9am and 10:35am Sunday services, and the team at Northwest Bible has gone all out to make this a really memorable opportunity to come show your support for the Shaw family and to honor Griffin Shaw’s legacy.
